Man the anti-anti-russiagate discourse is absolutely wild, it's almost like the entire US media corner of this website is irretrievably insane
If I understand correctly what happened is the people who said the media over-emphasized probable russia-trump links were mostly right and are now saying ha ha I told you so and their enemies online are saying well maybe you're right but the real issue is you're a fucking dick, ?
I think it boils down to, "OK I'm not FOR Russiagate (a theory), I am just opposed to Actually Existing Anti-Russiagate as an online tendency" which all seems to be basically saying, to me, "stay away"
lol I should REALLY stay out of this but: I was almost a russia correspondent, I went to Moscow in 2017 and talked to my russian journalist friends, foreign correspondents, almost everyone was skeptical of the Putin-Trump narrative but some reported editorial pressure from the US
so I remained pretty skeptical of it all and said so to friends in person (but not online! why would I say anything online) so I guess maybe I was closer to "right" than wrong? What I don't actually get is the contours of today's fighting, seems insanely abstruse and personal
