After a lot of anxiety and not a few panic attacks since the Brexit vote, I decided enough was enough. Today I applied for Pre-Settled Status. I downloaded the EU Exit: ID Document Check app from the Google Play Store. 1/7
Knowing this would require my Android phone's NFC feature, the first thing I did was to go to my phone's settings and activate it w/ a tap because otherwise, it's turned off by default to save battery. Once the feature was turned on, I got started. 2/7
I was pleasantly surprised with a few initial screens that contained instructions about what to expect and a Start button. I followed the prompts, and partway through, got a HO authorization code. It was well received and the application continued. 3/7
At each step of the way, I was glad to see confirmation check marks to indicate each piece of information had been successfully received and that the images and information were okay. It was done before I knew it, and although I was a bit worried, I was relieved to... 4/7.
be able to continue with my application online. The app had asked for my mobile no. and email address. At the end, it confirmed it would not store any of my data on my phone, and that the information had been sent. I closed out and saw a HO email. 5/7
I clicked on the link to confirm my email address & finished online. It was a very simple and straightforward process. I was asked a few basic questions that were to be fair and necessary for processing. I then got a pdf confirmation email & appl. no. 6/7
I printed the pdf for my records. I then left a very positive review in the Google Play Store because the mobile app was very easy to use, beautifully designed, and very intuitive. A lot less ominous than I expected. I would recommend it. Now, I'll wait 😳7/7
