1) There's many bizarre aspects of #Brexit but one stand out is the numbers saying "we know what we voted for, we wanted no deal"

So millions didn't believe what Johnson, Gove & Vote Leave were saying about leaving being easy, but voted leave anyway?
2) attitude of many leavers is like "oh I knew the Tory manifesto was full of lies,that promised spending on the NHS wouldnt happen & the education & social care systems would be trashed. I didn't believe anything they said but I voted for them anyway"

3) I'm sorry but I just don't buy it. I don't believe people who say they knew there would be a painful no deal #Brexit & Gove,Johnson were lying but voted Leave anyway.

I just think it's easier to say "we knew this was coming" than admit to being duped

This is the central paradox of #Brexit which is incredibly simple but has been buried in the noise

There is a #Brexit which gives us "freedom" but at an unacceptable cost - hard managed Brexit to no deal crash out
@KirstyS_Hughes 2) whether we crash out with no deal or exit in a managed fashion with a minimal FTA the knock on costs over the mid to long term would be unacceptable to the public (ironically, probably to many leavers included)

And the backstop is a legal requirement anyway
@KirstyS_Hughes 3) there's also a Brexit which has an acceptable cost but unacceptable loss of autonomy. Even if we settle on a CU or CU+SM or some fudge in between it still makes the UK a rule taker.

It's an unsustainable model, we'll be fighting over it for the next 10 years

It was also revealed that £1m is being poured from somewhere into fake "grassroots" no deal FB sites

And now Labour MPs like

@LucyMPowell @lisanandy @gareth_snell 2) the above tweet, like the well publicised letter by 25 Labour MPs asking Corbyn to strike a deal, refers to a highly selective cherry picking up of a wider poll which has been called out by YouGov themselves

So the day we find out there are secret fake "grassroots" facebook groups pushing no deal and the PMs head of communications is a hard brexiter with roots in the BBC, @lisanandy, @gareth_snell, @SarahChampionMP and others decide to push out that same hard #brexit propaganda
And as pointed out by YouGov themselves the interpretation of "no deal support hardening" is a gross misinterpretation

So it turns out @lisanandy, @gareth_snell, @SarahChampionMP and the other 23 Labour MPs are doing the ERGs dirty work for them
So it turns out @lisanandy and the other 23 Labour MPs appear to be complicit in spreading ERG/Hard #Brexit fake news on "No Deal support hardening"

Which is strange for a Labour MP

I'd suggest however the decent thing to do is to withdraw and amend their letter

The increased support for a ‘no deal’ Brexit is the ultimate failure of the Leave movement. It’s the inevitable consequence of the refusal to grasp details, come to terms with complexity & coalesce around a plan. Compromise can be frustrating. So instead they will have a tantrum.
Some Brexiteers advocated sensible solutions. The EFTA/EEA solution gained a lot of traction in the years before the ref. Even Farage had promoted it & countless others. See Farage below from 2011 essentially making the ‘Liberal Leave’ case!

1. There are two sides to the "rule out no deal" #Brexit debate - and both are wrong. There is no ruling out no deal. You can delay or revoke, but for as long as talks are in progress, no deal remains the default outcome unless a deal is agreed.
2. Parliament does not have the power to force the PM to ask for an extension. She is well within her rights to let the clock expire. Parliament can only take no deal off the table by voting for a deal.
3. The Brexiters, though, seem to think that no deal is leverage. It isn't. Brussels will not reopen the withdrawal agreement. Unless we extend for the 21 months, there is no chance of reframing negotiations. As far as they are concerned it is a non amendable instrument.

If #Brexit has a constitutional doctrine then it is the sovereignty of the whim a Brexiters want what they want with no understanding of the consequences or feasiblity just like toddlers
In the immediate aftermath of the referendum a petition to demand a rerun received 4 million signatures it turned out it was a leaver who put the petition up as he thought leave would lose. He protested it wasn't supposed to be used by remainers
All Leavers are fond of saying you can't have a rerun just cos you don't like the result. Yet nigel Farage Dominic Raab and John Redwood all made clear they'd demand a 2nd ref in the event of a remain win sauce for the goose isn't sauce for the gander evidently

"#Brexit and EU agencies", our extensive look into third country relationships of the 36 EU agencies and how the UK might fit in.

Albeit largely technical, agencies will have huge implications on Brexit.

Five points stand out in particular:
First, Agencies matter. Like the customs union, they are a technical aspect of the EU, that works and was thus hardly discussed in the UK before #Brexit.
But they are important for single market, but also justice and home affairs.

UK gov thus has already asked to continue participation in selected agencies, in particular in sectors important to the UK economy, like aviation, chemicals or pharma.
