Imagine the life decisions you have to get to the point where you get caught in an obvious lie, get called on it, and then write a whole thread doubling down because you assume your followers are all stupid.....
Tom retweeted a claim that Hegseth, a vet himself, was saying vets who use VA benefits are "dependent" on government and lack "perosnal integrity"

Direct quote from the video: "If I've got a chronic condition.. mental, physical, otherwise, the government better be there for me"
In the video, @PeteHegseth advocates for vets to be able to access treatment outside the VA, he does not advocate reducing benefits. In addition, he points out that there is abuse in the system (indisputably true). He does not suggest vets should not get benefits they earned.
The "personal responsibility" quote wasn't even from Hegseth, it was from Brian Kilmeade. Just the fact that Vote Vets presented it as his already shows how dishonest the paraphrasing is and how much they twisted the point Hegseth was trying to make.
But yes, my pointing out that this liberal group Tom is parroting is unfairly smearing a veteran who served at Gitmo, Baghdad, and Samarra is the problem because everything is about Trump and the truth is irrelevant if you don't like the person being smeared.
Oh and btw.. I've donated over 80% of my "media watchdog" earnings to veterans charities so it does seem very relevant here, but thanks for highlighting that.

Next time, either don't parrot smears or at least put down the shovel.
