My grades in Nigeria were almost nothing to write home about. But I managed to get a first in the UK. It’s not that my brain was dead, it must have been the condition in Naija.

In the UK, good WiFi at Uni & at home. 24 hour electricity. Good teaching materials & a solid library.
A lot of the folks who graduate with 2.2 or 3rd class from Nigerian Universities might potentially do much better if they study abroad. All the right conditions are here to make you excel. And no one is proud that that their students fail here.
Perhaps there were other factors at play in my own case, because I was a lot more cool-headed as a became older and knew what I wanted. But I feel the very good condition and pleasant study environment was always a key factor.
I remember taking 3 exams in one day in my first year. How does a Uni or faculty expect students to perform excellently under such stressful conditions? And one day I found out the scripts were marked by Associate Lecturers and some people were ‘blocking’ to get high grades.
