I guess we know how much the Russia hoax was pushing his poll numbers down. No wonder Democrats and their NeverTrump gollums were so desperate to keep it going.
The Russia hoax was probably a force multiplier for the "shy Trump voter" effect, making casual voters less likely to tell pollsters they approve of his job performance, with their liberal friends screaming "HE'S A RUSSIAN SPY!" every five minutes.
And leaving the collusion delusion aside, Trump has to thank the Democrats for his surging poll numbers. They've been working overtime to convince voters their entire party is batshit crazy and corrupt to the core. People don't want to risk the economy they have right now.
Trump's poll numbers are strong evidence he's winning his perpetual battle with the media. They must be absolutely stunned he's doing this well with voters despite their efforts. I'd say it's partly BECAUSE of their efforts. Media is in deep denial about its loss of credibility.
Trump's incendiary style magnifies the effect of events on his poll numbers. He probably benefits more from the good and suffers more from the bad. If the economy keeps humming, it would take a lot of bad news to weaken him substantially before the 2020 election. /end
