Another shifty Democrat coward runs like the wind after a desperate bid to attract the kook fringe blows up in her face.
You're going to see a LOT of this garbage because the Democrat Party has gone mad, and what little sanity it has left is focused on bidding for the affections of small fringe groups and undermining the American electorate by bringing in illegal aliens, felons, children, etc.
Right now every lower-tier Democrat is desperate to "go viral" and generate enough buzz to make big-money donors see them as plausible primary winners. More than in most years, the 2020 primary is a race by hooting lunatics to draw the biggest crowds to the bars of their cells.
If you're a normal, hard-working, taxpaying America, the Democrat Party has nothing for you in this election, and they don't care about you at this stage of their primary. It's all about contempt-signaling for Trump and his voters and getting noticed by lefty social media.
It's always tough to be parked in a demographic the Dems take for granted while they go chasing after the increasingly small and radical groups they want to Krazy Glue into their coalition. Criminals are one of those groups at the moment so law-abiding citizens can suck eggs.
Also, if you're trying to shove your way through the Democrat primary roller derby, you want loud and pushy activists on your side. You're hoping they can intimidate others into joining your cause, especially in the highly tribal environment of social media.
It makes strategic sense for the marginal Democrat candidates to play for the type of lefty who likes to join mobs and harass people, with an eye toward getting the media to notice your growing online strength. Lazy reporters LOVE stories based on social media drama.
For all the talk of "lanes" in the Democrat primary field, in the end there will really be only two: the Electable lane and the Excitement lane. The big money tends to support Electables, but in 2020 they're nervous that Trump beat the oh-so-"electable" Clinton in 2016.
So if you're floating in the sub-10% orbit of the Dem primary right now, you can't muscle Biden out of the Electable lane, and if he implodes Buttigieg is lined up for that slot. You want pole position in Excitement to grab primary voters who think Electable might be a dead end.
The problem with the Excitement lane is that everyone drives really fast with their headlights off. In the race to catch fire online, you slip and say incredibly stupid things that should not be discussed outside the lefty fever swamps, things that scare the normals.
And in this particular race, the field is so crowded, and the candidates are so reckless, because many Democrats incorrectly believe Trump will be easy to beat. If anyone can win, why not run the most radical lefty and claim a "mandate" for socialist transformation in 2021?
And yet, the Dems are also still wedded to the notion of the Honorable Loser Republican opponent. They're severely underestimating how vigorously Trump will hammer their entire party with everything their kook candidates say during the primary.
What the Dems don't fully grasp yet is that the media can't give them a clean slate for the general election this time. Even before Trump, media's ability to shake the political Etch-a-Sketch was waning. Trump will not politely forget to bring up stuff like Votes for Terrorists.
Trump also will not be shy about pointing out the incredible dangers to American liberty and prosperity posed by Democrat ideas - he's already doing it every day. He's as good at playing on the emotional, populist, visceral battlefield as any Dem.
The Dems' best bet is to quickly consolidate around an Electable candidate who can also be presented as Exciting, convince the fringes to pipe down and play along in anticipation of rewards after the election. Two problems, the first being they don't have anyone like that.
Second is that the Dem leadership lost control of the caucus to the new radicals. They're nonstop gaffe machines that cannot be persuaded to play along with the old "pretend to be moderate" strategy. That loss of control will hurt them in the 2020 presidential race. /end
