Let's look at the owner of that YouTube video, the conspiracy channel "Matrix Wisdom"

It has nearly the same monthly views as the top science channel @SmarterEveryDay, despite having ... 31 times less subscribers.

How can "Matrix Wisdom" get nearly as many views as a channel that have 31 times more subscribers?

1/ it can make more videos as it doesn't care about facts
2/ it's recommended by the AI much, much more

One more thing to notice: it has up to 6 ads per video. Conspiracy is a gold mine for YouTube's algorithms

The algorithm recommends conspiracy more, which makes it easier to start and monetize conspiracy channels than science channels.

Result: the best AIs have been steering the world towards conspiracies for the last 10 years, just because it's good for YouTube's "north star"

2 month ago YouTube said they would take action, but my results show it's not even close to be fixed. Even with their proposed solution, many problems will remain.

@cadale it would be more productive to talk about solutions, than arguing on twitter.

The problem is real.

The first one got 420k views from a channel with 22k subs. So it got a massive boost from the AI.

It's a slideshow that encourages people to drop their faith in religion, in science, in their institutions, to just spend time watching conspiracies on YouTube
