Movement at EDVA re: #Assange - Govt has filed a motion to unseal various records on the docket, including what appears to be the govt's initial motion requesting Assange's Dec 2017 indictment be sealed.

From the filing: "The govt requests that a motion to seal filed on Dec 21 2017 will remain under seal because it contains nonpublic information about an ongoing criminal investigation. Premature disclosure of the information could jeopardize the investigation."
Note: It appears a redacted version of the motion to seal will soon be entered on the docket.
Update: The govt's motion has been granted.

But according to one Wisconsin man who was arrested for drunk driving and blood tested while *unconscious,* consent only comes with a warrant.

The State of Wisconsin doesnt see it that way & many courts are already split on the notion of implied consent as well.

The president of the United States has finished his tweet from several hours ago and is currently suggesting people who conducted the Mueller investigation were spies or treasonous.
This tweet also fails to mention asset forfeiture proceeds from Manafort that could effectively make the investigation a much more cost-effective endeavor. As of September 2018, probe cost $25.2M. A final $ report is due in May. Manafort forfeited $25M.
We'll see how much of a wash it ends up being when the final expenditure report tells all, but that isn't a bad haul considering the corruption at play by those indicted. From May 2017 to September 30 2018, roughly 500 days, it cost 25.5M,

NEW: Today's status conf. for former Flynn associate, Bijan Kian, moved fast. There is still a tug-of-war going on for discovery.
In a nutshell: prosecutors are still sorting through documents Kian wants to review tied to Flynn Intel Group and pulling out what is classified....
They're also working on getting docs declassified, a process which is moving slowly, according to them, because it is “very complicated.” Not only must they produce their own docs for discovery, but meeting defense req. for FIG records (incl. the Flynn FBI interviews)...
means they are working with 7 different agencies outside of the DOJ, incl. intel agencies, to ready records. "We've gone through the Special Counsel's files & reviewed biz records, bank stmts, documents rec'd from third parties and witness interviews" prosecutor Jim Gillis said.

Time to correct some misinformation being spread by Alan Dershowitz in the Jeffrey Epstein case.

Dershowitz claims he filed the lawsuit to unseal the records, and that the Miami Herald joined him.

My interest in the case was journalistic.

What was in these records?

And then.....
The trial court denied my motion to unseal the records in the Jeff Epstein case.

I appealed.

Then the Miami Herald filed their own separate lawsuit.

The Reporter’s Committee For Freedom of the Press filed a brief supporting my appeal.

Some journalists keenly cite FBI informer Marcy Wheeler's wild & eager speculations on EDVA's #Assange indictment. But indications so far in fact point to the indictment relating to @xychelsea's case & @WikiLeaks revelations of US wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, Cablegate, GITMO.
First of all, the document indicates that the indictment is in the Eastern District of Virginia (EDVA). This is where the WikiLeaks Grand Jury (Ref:10GJ3793) has been empanelled since 2010 in order to indict Assange over the publications that Chelsea Manning was convicted over.
The @WikiLeaks Grand Jury was headed at the time by Neil MacBride (who was also responsible for the prosecution of CIA whistleblower @JohnKiriakou). MacBride is an aggressive proponent of the extraterritorial application of US criminal jurisdiction. washingtonpost.com/world/national…
