John Minford, #SunTzu 5: 10 "In the dynamics of War, there are but these two--indirect and direct--and yet their permutations are inexhaustible. They give rise to each other in a never-ending, inexhaustible circle."
Here we are, midway through chapter 5. Yet, we are only now fully empowered to begin to understand chapter 1, and its key verse, 1: 15. How do you argue that any verse is more important than 1: 15? Let's check...
"The Way of War is a Way of Deception. When able, feign inability. When deploying the troops, appear not to be. When near, appear far; when far, appear near. Lure with bait; strike with chaos. If the enemy is full, be prepared. If strong, avoid him....
"If he is weak, stir him to pride. If he is relaxed, harry him; if his men are harmonious, split them. Attack where he is unprepared; appear where you are unexpected."
Obviously, we need a list. Here we go:

1) The Way of War is a Way of Deception.
2) When able, feign in ability.
3) When deploying the troops, appear not to be.
4) When near, appear far.
5) Lure with bait.
6) Strike with chaos.
7) If the enemy is full, be prepared.
9) If he is angry, disconcert him.
10) If he is weak, stir him to pride.
11) If he is relaxed, harry him.
12) If his men are harmonious, split them.
13) Attack where he is unprepared.
14) Appear where you are unexpected.
We'll come back to our 14-point list above, shortly. Indirect and direct? What are they? The commentators teach us, front and rear. To attack the enemy at their front is direct. At their rear is indirect. It is critical that you picture this.
One of the great misnomers of our Western mindset is the idea of a "fair fight." A fair fight is one you should not fight. Never fight until your advantages are unfair. So here is how it looks. You look your enemy in the eyes. Your friend looks at the back of his head.
While you play around pretending you're a mighty fighter, your friend stabs your enemy in the back. That is warfare. Embrace it. Don't deny. War is that moment when all rules disappear, and victory is all that counts. Direct, attack to the face. Indirect, attack to the rear.
Flanks are good. You attack to the face. Your friend attacks from the right or left. The rear is ideal, but not required. Flanks do just fine. The key is that you must never attack when you're weak. You attack your enemy's weakness with your strength. Overwhelming strength.
I need you to feel this. Two to one. A big guy tells you to back off. You refuse, in spite of being a little guy. Why do you refuse? In part because you have a big friend, bigger than your enemy. You're in front. Your friend is to the side or behind. Your enemy has no chance.
Until you have an unfair advantage, do not fight. I feel I should say that again. I won't, but maybe you're read it again. Fair fights must be avoided at all costs. Funny thing. When your advantages are so unfair, your enemy knows, and you win without fighting.
This principle is why I ended up supporting our nuclear arsenal, after I opposed it. And this is why I support free-market capitalism, too. It generates so much wealth that you can spend it on unfair advantages that communist/socialist countries can't afford.
What won WWII? Wealth did. Not just wealth as in assets. Wealth as in the functional capability to turn our great corporations' capabilities to war materiel. That too could not have won without our fighting spirit, our belief in our freedoms. Spirit and matter are what won.
My hope and belief is this. America is filled to the brim with good souls who have common sense. We know that America lost Her greatness. We know that Bush HW, Clinton, Bush W, and Obama gave our strength away. We know that we must win America back.
From education of our children, to the rules we run our streets by, we must return to our founding principles. We can let go of California and Hawaii. They are simply socialist states. In the rest of America, we must win. We shall. We have our 14 principles of war.
Master Sun teaches us that 14 principles are merely 2. Indirect and direct. These two create an infinite circle of victory. Never attack directly, unless you have an indirect attack planned at the ready. You must have both. Contemplate.

The local MAGA leader’s library needs three other books. The first is by my great friend, hero, and today’s greatest constitutional scholar, @shestokas. His most important work so far is:
