This "press conference" would make the editors of Pravda proud.
Trump's best appointment (from his point of view) must be Bill Barr. Wow. This performance is a legal embarrassment.
There is no good reason for this press conference hours before the release of the report. Propaganda. Disgusting.
An attorney general committed to the rule of law would let the report speak for itself, and would take questions after people have had a chance to look at it.
Not try to *for the second time* shape the public perception of a document the public has not had the chance to see.
Absolutely disgusting attempt at spin, and no good answers to great reporter questions. No reason why he had to pre-spin before the release of the report itself.
Barr is truly serving the person who appointed him, and not the Department of Justice or the rule of law.
And Rod Rosenstein has a lot to answer for too, serving as a prop in this Soviet-style exoneration "press" conference where Barr did not explain what legitimate purpose this pre-spin speaking had.

Let's hope congressional committees can ask Mueller questions directly.
Never thought I'd say this but here goes:

I miss Jeff Sessions.
Bill Barr has no good answer to @ryanjreilly for why he had to pre-spin the report before its release.
*This* is the key moment of the "press conference"
Not only am I flabbergasted by Barr's deliberate political performance (how many times did he say "no collusion" to please the President?), I now have no confidence Barr will fairly administer the law with regard to everything else DOJ handles. He has lost remaining credibility.
Lots of folks commenting on the "smirk" on Rosenstein's face during the press conference. I would not read so much into that---was he nervous? disagreeing with Barr?
Rosenstein needs to testify too, and explain why he did not recuse when he was a percipient witness to events
Important point from @mjs_DC: given Barr's embarrassing "press conference" performance, we should not trust the redactions he's given in the report either slate.com/news-and-polit…
Yes Barr is probably one of the worst AGs the country has ever had.
But Rosenstein, WTF? He let Mueller do his job and shielded Mueller from the President, but in the end he let Barr totally misrepresent what was in the report about Trump and obstruction.
