Gonna try my best to live-tweet some of the cool stuff we cover during today's webinar on library resources for local journalists. I think you should still be able to join the webinar at this link: global.gotowebinar.com/join/334179776…
First up, @njdocslibrarian will go over the NJ documents library and the range of state publications and records available to the public
Most journalists are familiar with libraries and library catalogues, but @njstatelibrary has a special NJ subject keywords for more comprehensive searches
A look at what you can expect to find among the more than 32,000 records and publications that @njstatelibrary has been collecting
Now @LibraryCynthia will dive into the NJ Law Library and the legal resources that are available online
Dear god the website for the NJ Legislature is something (from 1998) to behold
The "NJ Digital Highway" includes a database of all NJ cultural organizations njdigitalhighway.org/nj_cultural_or…
All of these @njstatelibrary legal documents and records are fully digitized AND searchable?!
Important info about an important resource: Legal Services of New Jersey is a non-profit that provides all kinds of useful info and services to people who can't otherwise afford them
Now hearing from U.S. Documents Librarian @TeriTaylorNJSL about the Congressional Research Service and other state and federal library resources
The #GovInfo tool from the @USGPO allows the public to search publications from all three branches of the federal govt
(Oh no I think I did too many tweets or something and broke this thread. Not seeing any other tweets attached to these. Oh well.)
Yeahhhh boi now we're really getting into my kind of nerd shit
First up (of course) are the official NJ guides to fact-checking. (Note the amazing Honey I Shrunk the Kids gif in the sidebar. You had me at Rick Moranis.) libguides.njstatelib.org/facts
On to the Q&A:

Q: What is usa.gov and how does it work?

A: It indexes federal, state, and municipal websites, plus it has state documents.
Q: Are the images and docs on usa.gov considered public domain?

A: Yes.
Q: Is there a database of NJ non-profits?

A: I believe the Foundation for Non-Profits (it might have a new name) provides something along these lines.
Q: Do the libraries at @montclairstateu @RutgersU and @Princeton offer the same resources?

A: In some cases, yes. But some academic libraries have different policies and repositories available for academic and/or public use.
That's all for today, folks. Here's the contact info for today's webinar hosts. Also they said the slides will be made available soon.
