@SportyMcSporty @Dexout_Official @VaudevilleVis @JohnFugelsang Yeah, this guy with 125 followers is an actual "civil war history academic." Sure. Uh-huh.

Let's check out his assertions that the Articles of Secession didn't mention slavery, + that slavery wasn't even MENTIONED til the Gettysburg Address:
1/
@SportyMcSporty @Dexout_Official @VaudevilleVis @JohnFugelsang Georgia's Articles of Secession: "it's about keeping slavery, expanding slavery, and forcing free states to return our 'property' when it selfishly runs away":
@SportyMcSporty @Dexout_Official @VaudevilleVis @JohnFugelsang Oh, yeah: and also because freed enslaved people will rape our wives and tear down our altars:
3/
@SportyMcSporty @Dexout_Official @VaudevilleVis @JohnFugelsang Mississippi's Articles of Secession: "what Georgia said about keeping and expanding slavery, but also everyone knows only Black people can work in the Sunshine, duh!":
@SportyMcSporty @Dexout_Official @VaudevilleVis @JohnFugelsang I could go on: every other Confederate state said similar things, and Confederate VP Alexander H. Stephens' Cornerstone Speech said they were seceding to free themselves from America's founding mistake (believing "all men were created equal" when OBVS. God said Blacks were not).
@SportyMcSporty @Dexout_Official @VaudevilleVis @JohnFugelsang Second:

Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.
@SportyMcSporty @Dexout_Official @VaudevilleVis @JohnFugelsang P.S.: Here's "civil war history academic" @Dexout_Official's now-deleted tweet that started this thread. c @JohnFugelsang
