The first time we installed wifi at the house, I told my dad to switch off his mobile data because he wouldn't need it anymore. 1/2

That night, he called me from the bar asking why he's not receiving any wozzap messages and we paid for the damn wifi at home.

So I started explaining to him how a router has similar range implications as a campfire. The closer you are, the warmer you feel.

So, about the router, he asked "Sasa nikitaka wozzap lazima nibebe hii kitu hata kwa gari?"
Me:

So I tell him to politely sip his whiskey, akifika nyumbani we shall go over internet 101. So the next day was interesting.

He wakes up before me because he has to complain about me oversleeping and bolts into my room. It was a Saturday bana.

"Hii kitu yako unashinda ukisema wireless na mtu akitoka kwa nyumba haifanyi kwani mnaturudisha siku za landline?"
Me:

So I get up. Freshen up and sit him down we talk. First of I tell him, wifi ni ya hii nyumba pekee. Ukitoka huko nje, tumia mobile data.

At this point he asks me parents' most rhetoric response when they don't understand but don't want to looks stupid.

"What do you mean?"

"Kwa nini hukusema hivyo kabla tununue? Si ulisema hii kitu tukiweka hakuna kutumia credit tena?"

Me:

"Kutoka next month, hii maneno ni wewe utakuwa ukilipia. Mimi siwezi nyanganywa pesa yangu technology that doesn't make sense.."

"Umewahi skia nikikwambia hii gari ni ya nyumba pekee ukiwa huko nje tumia matatu? Because that is the logic here really..."

Me:

Long story short, that's how I ended up paying for wifi in this hse for the last year+ & I don't see that bill ever being his responsibility

The only regret I have is that I taught him how to forward messages on whatsapp and this has been my life ever since
