I just listened to today's edition of the @nytimes' podcast "The Daily," entitled "John Bolton's Plan for #Iran."

It's was a total abomination. nytimes.com/2019/05/13/pod… 1/9
The episode set out to explain why we are where we are with Iran WRT to Bolton. While the reporters mention that he's gunning for regime change, not once in the entire 25 minute podcast, do they mention Bolton has been calling for war w Iran for more than 2 decades 2/9
The entire episode was mostly a look at the issue through the most generous interpretation of Bolton's lens, and accepted at face value all of his arguments for what he's been doing on Iran as National Security Advisor. 3/9
The episode aired a clip of Trump talking about how Iran is seeking nuclear weapons, but never mentioned that US intel concluded that program ended more than a decade ago, or that Trump's claim is unsubstantiated. 4/9
And you wouldn't know how successful the Iran nuclear deal has been because that fact was never brought up. 5/9
The Daily mentioned in passing at the very end that the Iran nuclear deal was working (just in easing tensions, not blocking a nuke), but also painted it as a too complicated way to rein in Iran's nuclear program... 6/9
... and claimed that it expires in 20 years (which is false, it never expires). Meanwhile, the Times instead presented Bolton's plan for regime change as a simpler option. 7/9
The latest events were presented in very much the same way the rest of the media have reported on them: uncritically accepting the administration line. I wrote about that here: lobelog.com/the-medias-sha… 8/9
It's sickening how mainstream US media is carrying water for Trump and Bolton's march to war with Iran. It's clear they have learned nothing from the run-up to the Iraq war or have recognized its complicity in that catastrophe. It's baffling and shameful. 9/9
UPDATE: I forgot to mention that this thread didn't touch on all that was terrible about the Daily's podcast on #Iran today. Here is another example:
