Wow. I think Elizabeth Warren just singlehandedly put an end to Democratic presidential candidates going on Faux News. Well done, Senator.
Heads up to the social media of any candidate still thinking about going on Fox - you’re going to get sent this Warren thread about eleventy billion times. Have fun looking complicit.
And for everyone chiming in with “we need to reach Fox viewers”- there are ways to do that without having a town hall on Fox. And in case you’ve missed the last ten+ years, most Fox-only viewers aren’t reachable anyway. Legitimizing Fox isn’t worth it.

And the (not so) funny thing is, it sounded just as ridiculous at the time. He’d already said he wanted to go into ISIS-controlled parts of Iraq and take the oil. He has a long history of saber-rattling when it comes to the Middle East.
Of all Trump’s cons, his “non-interventionist mindset” was pushed a lot harder by the anti-Hillary left than by the candidate himself. And they had to ignore a lot of bluster to sell it.

Privilege is thinking a non-trivial amount of loyal Fox viewers would vote for a Democrat if only we’d hold more town halls there.
This idea isn’t just wrong, it’s part of how we got here. Like the economic anxiety narrative, it extends a degree of innocence to bigots that is unearned and contrary to fact.
You’re #NotAllWhitePeople-ing the white people who deserve it least. Not that any of us deserve it. But if you think devoted Fox viewers (who wouldn’t watch a Dem town hall on another channel) are voting on something besides white male supremacy, you’re not paying attention.

Congresswoman Tlaib tackled a complicated subject in a way that looks bad on paper. I wasn't offended. If other Jewish people are, that's their right. But if you support an anti-Semite like Trump, don't use me as a human shield for your Islamophobic bullshit.
I'm tired of my Jewishness being used by bigots as a cudgel against Muslim women. And I'm tired of the press helping bigots play this bad faith game over and over.
Trump is an anti-Semitic Nazi apologist. He's fueled a surge in anti-Semitic hate crimes. He's incited violence against us. He has our blood on his hands. I don't say that lightly. He doesn't get to point fingers anywhere else. And neither do his supporters or the press.

In the 2016 Democratic Primaries, Hillary Clinton got around 55% of the vote, Bernie got around 45%.

Current polls show approx: Warren 6%, Harris 8%, Klobuchar 1%, Gabbard 0%, Gillibrand 0%. That's a total of 15% of the vote going to women candidates, 85% to the men.
That means there's around 30% of the Democratic base (like 5 million people) who supported Hillary in 2020, are choosing a male candidate to support rather than one of the female candidates. Assuming she had 50/50 support, that is around 2.5 million women, give or take.
The notion in 2016, and even stronger today, is that you must inherently be a sexist if you prefer one of the males to the women. This is often said by women (as you'd imagine) If that's the case, why are there so many women (around 2.5 million)not supporting a woman candidate?

1/ Lots of chatter about Democratic presidential candidates partnering w/Fox News for town halls. There's a lot of confusion, assumptions and conflation swirling about.

I've been knee-deep in this for long while. Lemme unpackage and help clear some things up...
2/ At outset, recognize that we are in the middle of what is called the "upfronts." During this period, Fox News needs to sell approximately 70% of their ads for next year. Due to lots of issues, for the first time ever, they have been in crisis and were not gonna hit their marks
3/ This matters a lot in terms of forcing improvement at Fox. If they miss the marks, not only will the financial cost be massive, BUT it actually creates conditions for shareholders to sue. There's a reason Fox suspended Pirro during this period. To help save face. Moving on...

Based on some recent comments from President Trump and Lindsey Graham and from watching large quantities of Fox News, I think Republicans are planning on making Hillary Clinton's email server a key issue in the 2020 presidential campaign. (1/many)
Background: Republicans have spent decades demonizing Clinton. In 2015/6 they pretended to care about her email security, journalists pretended to believe them, the FBI investigated and found no crimes, and she lost to Trump in the 2016 presidential election. (2/x)
As the 2020 election gears up, you might expect Republicans to be engaged in an all-out effort to define the Democratic presidential candidates. There's been some of that... but Clinton and the FBI investigation into her email server have been coming up again. (3/x)
