The continued ambiguity that Fox cannot properly answer on a UK US trade deal. He knows a deal requires we accept US food standards, but tries to explain these are not lower or an animal welfare issue, either of which are questionable.
Meanwhile popular opinion and his Parliamentary colleagues are convinced US food equals lower standards. Meanwhile most businesses are unconvinced anyway about potential gains from a UK US trade deal.
Given Trump's US first and only trade policy, and the danger of raising trade barriers with the EU, an FTA with the US still looks like the wrong approach, smaller agreements the way forward. But this goes against the strong IEA etc lobby to attack EU food rules...
