White House lawyers told Rep. Nadler today that Congress' Russia investigation is not a "legitimate exercise of oversight authority," and said they would decline to comply with some requests for evidence because of "our respect for the rule of law."
This is a pretty audacious argument and in line with one President Trump's private lawyers made yesterday in court, to the apparent dismay of a federal judge.
White House lawyers say it's improper for Congress to investigate the president's conduct when the Justice Department has already investigated him.
White House lawyers told lawmakers today that Congress doesn't have the power to carry out a "pseudo law enforcement investigation" of President Trump's conduct in office. The administration won't comply with subpoenas "out of respect for the rule of law."

Where this argument leaves us: The Justice Department says it can't charge a sitting president lest it interfere with his constitutional powers. . And the White House says Congress can't investigate him because it doesn't have the power to conduct 'law enforcement' inquiries.

I spent a large part of last year working with a group of @usatoday Network reporters digging into police misconduct. They assembled a mountain of records from across the country, and today you can read the first results of that work. It's pretty nuts. usatoday.com/in-depth/news/…
They identified 32 police officers found to have committed serious misconduct who not only kept their badges but went on to become police chiefs or sheriffs, "high-ranking examples of how easy it can be for police officers in the USA to escape records of misconduct."
One man led his fellow deputies on a 100 mph chase after a night of drinking. Not knowing he was the fleeing driver, dispatchers summoned him to assist in the chase of himself. Soon after, county officials appointed him as the sheriff.

Remember, the #USAF and #DTRA go out of their way to ensure the American public don't know what the Russians are looking at with their yearly observation flights (blocking #FOIA requests for the same data) so for god sake don't retweet this far and wide. 😏
The green dots show you where the plane was triangulated (MLAT) by ground stations, and the altitude is a tell for where they might be taking pictures, but to further refine your guess, check the speed with which they are flying.

They should be ~10,800 ft AGL doing ~300kn.

Flake referred to the "moral vandalism flowing from the White House," called Trump's efforts to kneecap the Russia investigation "egregious," and rebuked Trump's attacks on the press.,
If Flake is trying to cement his place as the prime anti-Trump choice in a 2020 GOP primary, he's killing it.
