1/ Nearly 10 years ago, I became obsessed with creating a new kind of public service and bringing government into the digital age. So I started @codeforamerica.
2/ We’ve focused on showing what’s possible when government takes a user-centered, iterative, and data-driven approach to solving problems.
3/ We’ve helped others do it themselves within government, and we’ve built a movement of more than 25,000 active volunteers and public servants across the nation.
4/ And now, as we contemplate the next 10 years, we need to do it 50 times faster and a 100 times bigger, because too many people in our country are sick of government not working for them.
5/ It’s working. And it's time to kick it into an even higher gear. To do that, I want to bring in @codeforamerica's next leader. I’m excited to announce that we’ll be kicking off the search for a new executive director. bit.ly/2JBA6lk
6/ But I will not be leaving the organization or the cause! I will be doubling down on the areas where I can have the greatest impact in the org and in the field. And I’ll be writing a book.
7/7 I’ve been thinking for some time about how I can contribute the most to a cause at a greater scale — and I can’t wait to see what we accomplish in the next 10 years together.
