Quite intrigued to see my @23andMe report shift recently from "96% Chinese/3% Filipino" to a new reading of "98.9% Taiwanese/1.1% Vietnamese," with my Viet ancestry projected 5-8 gens back.

My theory: Rival Asian time travelers in a love triangle with my great-great-grandmother.

(Yes, Guangdong is mentioned in there but that's the only Mainland region listed, the other 12 regions listed are all in Taiwan, go figure. My prior report just said "YO YOU'RE GENERIC CHINESE, FOO, but here, have some Filipino on the side")

Less tongue in cheek, the re-reporting is due to an aggressive effort by 23 and Me to get more distinct and diverse Asian sample. I'm sure it'll keep changing as they do so. If you're on 23 and Me, you should go back and see if your report has also shifted.

Update: According to @23andMe, I have ancestors who were born pretty much all across East and Southeast Asia. These new tools and features are incredibly interesting. #APAHM
