This is a detailed piece of work by a volunteer women's group in Scotland. It explains why many feminists on the left oppose self id of sex, as such policies hurt vulnerable women & girls. It's a good introduction if you are new to the #waronwomen issue
The report says some women are self excluding from services because they fear there is no single sex provision - including intimate care. Equality Act 2010 allows for these services to be female only -as these lawyers make clear - but the law is ignored
I was disturbed by the report's section on prisons, as I spoke directly to the senior source myself. Vulnerable women exposed to male rage and sexual obscenities. These women didn't consent to intact trans identifying males in shower rooms or common areas
The suggestion that "risk assessments" make it all ok is not good enough. It's not just about safety, but about women feeling triggered, uncomfortable or exposed.
Women shouldn't have to explain why they don't want their boundries violated. They shouldn't have to complain after the event. They shouldn't be gaslighted into believing a complaint makes them a bigot, as this guidance says scottishtrans.org/wp-content/upl…
I've noticed usual suspects getting hysterical about @wornoutmumhack @TheScotsman coverage of this report. Not an ounce of concern for the female prisoners affected. Male validation is all that matters to these angry narcissists.
This is not going away. @WG_Scotland are part of new movement of unfunded women's groups, incl trade unionists, teachers, academics & those at frontline in VAWG sector. They will be heard. @Womans_Place_UK @fairplaywomen @ForwomenScot @Scottish_Women
