The most virulent and sickening attacks I’ve seen here on Twitter have been directed at Canadian female politicians. Some are definitely paid trolls; but all too many of them are Canadians who’ve lost all sense of decency and civility.
I don’t typically block anyone until they’ve demonstrated uncivil behaviour directly at me; but I make an exception for anyone I see using the sexist term “climate barbie”. Sure, you can disagree w @cathmckenna - it’s a free world. But if you can’t do so civilly, don’t.
I also don’t want the fact that many of these accounts appear to be paid trolls to be lost in the noise. Paid by whom to attack Cdn female liberal/ndp politicians, one wonders? 🤔
If you want to see just how bad the absolute crap is that people give our female politicians, just go to twitter search and type in “climate barbie” for a fine selection of political ideology being used to justify sexism, hate, and dehumanising language.
