There exists an old propaganda technique, as old as history itself, when dealing with an enemy who proves to be repeatedly victorious.
If he is shrewd and skilled in diplomacy, call him an uncouth brute you can’t safely sit across a table from.

When he wins with superior forces, say that any fool could have won that battle and it was no great accomplishment.

When he wins with inferior forces, insist he’s lucky
When he displays brilliance, call him a dullard.

When he displays bravery, call him foolhardy and brash.
The point of this is only to preserve the morale of those serving you. Denigrating and diminishing the reputation of a skilled and dangerous adversary lessens the impact of his victories on the morale of your people.
You can’t convince your opponents’ forces, you likely won’t convince neutral observers. This propaganda is meant for internal consumption only.
Sure makes sense why the left keeps calling trump untrue names even as he repeatedly demonstrates tbe opposite of the rumors.
