Today we'll be reading "The Senator Next Door: A Memoir from the Heartland," by Amy Klobuchar. Photo on the cover shows a dead ringer for "that nice lady who lives next door, what's her name ... Mrs. Cobleklar? Kobular?"
The one you can totally trust with your house keys when you go away for the weekend, and she'll take in the mail and water the plants. She won't forget.

Ten chapters. Looks like it's mostly a memoir rather than a set of policies.
Prologue: "In my early campaigns people would sometimes come up to me at the grocery store or a shopping mall and say, 'I know you from somewhere.' They would look at me intently and say, "Is it the PTA? Do you live in my neighborhood?"
As the years went by, she figured out it was easiest to say, "I don't *exactly* live on your block, but you can think of me as the senator next door."
That's an endearing beginning. She really does look like "someone from the PTA." She probably really has heard that all her life.
