Russian papers come out in solidarity w Ivan Golunov as well as more protests being planned. I don’t think the Kremlin anticipated the backlash and seem to be slowly walking back.
Suddenly they announced there were several sets of fingerprints on drugs and are expediting the case
Golunov was released on house arrest and a hearing is being held this week. The police are furious w Russian media and didn’t expect such a backlash from Kremlin papers. Meanwhile Kremlin screwed this one up big time because Golunov is very well respected in journalist circles
Hoping for the best and his immediate release

This article is extremely worrying! Why would Dem politicians have to be afraid of Pelosi for demanding an impeachment inquiry be opened? Why do we have to beg politicians to do their job to expose/slow down a lawless authoritarian regime not operating in America’s interests?
Do people realize that all the bills the House is passing is dead on arrival in Senate thanks to McConnell? Why not focus on fighting to save our institutions that trump has hijacked and exposing all crimes committed by both the Trump regime/ republicans who are covering for him

Trump and his cronies have strategically been floating this for months. Trump is an authoritarian and has zero intentions of leaving. We need all evidence presented to the public so more people can wake up. We need an Impeachment inquiry now
This is why we need all evidence presented to people so everyone not paying attention will get involved. Trump and his regime need to be slowed down now. We don’t have the luxury of waiting for next election. We do need to make sure everyone votes.
Trump tells us everything he will do and then does it. This has been the case for years. He said he wanted to investigate his opponents and intel agents and hijacked DOJ w his loyalist Barr to do just that

Okay, listen up. This is not a drill. Ivan Golunov, my colleague at @meduzaproject, one of the best investigative reporters in the industry, was arrested yesterday after leaving work (I was with him before he left). He is now awaiting formal charges at a remand prison in Moscow.
The allegations against Ivan brought forward by the investigators are simply ludicrous. Police claim Golunov, an award-winning investigative journalist, was moonlighting as a Walter-White-level meth kingpin from his Moscow apartment. It's clearly a fabrication.
But it's an extremely serious charge that carries 10 to 20 years in prison. There's no debate about this: Ivan is being targeted for his courageous, thorough but never reckless or unethical investigations into crime and corruption at the the highest levels of Russian state.
