Yes. We continue to await the congressional apology for the Southern Manifesto - an agreement signed by members of the House & Senate in 1956 to resist #BrownvBoard. This led to years of “Massive Resistance,” the often violent refusal by whites to accept school integration.

Boys whose family & life circumstances have left them in tough spots making decisions too weighty for their minds & souls.They are not forgiven. I know you know this @nytdavidbrooks.Could you have spared ink to acknowledge them in your defense of this young man’s moral journey?
How can this, whatever your view, result in a full-on debate from writers in the pages of our most influential papers, w/o the need to acknowledge the devastating reality of lives stolen & shattered by a society that denies childhood to so many Black children.

Today we filed an amicus brief in SCOTUS in Ramos v Louisiana. In 2018 La. voters overturned the use of nonunanimous jury verdicts. But there’s no retroactive relief for those convicted under this system which was created by the state in 1898 to disempower Black jurors.
How do non-unanimous juries disempower Black jurors? “Bobby and I saw from the beginning that our vote wasn’t going to matter. We were outnumbered,” said one of two Black jurors serving on a jury w ten whites in a murder case involving a 20 yr old Black defendant.
Before lunch a white woman on the jury seemed to be leaning w/the two Black jurors in favor of manslaughter. At lunch all the white jurors ate together. “When they returned from lunch, all ten white jurors wanted to vote for second-degree murder; there was no convincing them..”

If this epidemic of police violence was happening to white families, teens, women & young men & shown every week in viral videos, it wld by now be regarded as a natl crisis warranting govt intervention, punishment for the perpetrators & $ appropriated for support for the victims.
See, e.g., the opoid epidemic. The idea that Black people should accept their families being threatened with execution for shoplifting, being beaten and arrested for “talking back,” killed for running away or looking like a “bad dude” or carrying a cellphone is despicable.
We will never accept it. We will not meekly accept the effort to make us second class citizens or a fraction of a person. Every video is an indictment of this country. It marks us as powerfully as separating infants from parents at the border as a country that has lost its way.

2⃣ Aside from Revenue(tax) bills, bills can originate either in the House, the Senate or both simultaneously. When the bill has been polished it goes to a vote. There are two primary types of vote & one that is considered a countermeasure. #Senate ⬇️

- To win the #House the #Democrats need 23 more seats: Not easy
- To win the #Senate they need 2 more and successfully defend existing seats (100 seats in total, 2 for each #state): Not easy

- "The Base" was well prepared: You see it at all Trump-rallies
- Trump pushes a few emotive topics (illegal #migration): He knows - "Keep it simple, stupid!" #KISS
- The numbers are on his side: #Economy & #JobNumbers great
3. #Midterms2018 - What the #Democrats do wrong:
- Too many damaged goods: #ElizabethWarren (#Fakecahontas), #HillaryClinton despite all the support, over a billion war-chest & #media on her side LOST! But they keep pushing her!
- No single winning face, to win the votes!
