Now, Xi's show of support to Iran during a SCO meeting looks interesting as I beilieve as, althought it is not a joint SCO declaration, it still carries some degree of endorsement from the organization. However....
...is this the maximum support that China, through the SCO, is willing to give to Iran? Or is this the prelude to the eventual final upgrade of Iran's status at a certain point in the near future?
I still believe the right hypothesis is the first and Iran will have to keep complaining for not being let in completely. Nonetheless, this is a small but important event that should not be overlooked.

This read as both a call to the US and a veiled reminder to Iran not to break the ranks.
