The 'irresponsible' Palestinian leadership is as incapable of making peace as all those who came before them. They've built such a dependancy on their status as 'victims' - such an industry has been created around them - what would they be without it?
Almost everyone will benefit from peace. The Israelis, the Saudis, the Egyptians, the Jordanians. Only the Palestinians, who have most of the world's leaders on speed dial - look at peace with uncomfortable eyes
The NGOs will leave, the reporters will turn away and suddenly they'd have to try to run a country as it is meant to be run. Clan wars and sectarian violence awaits - because the only thing bonding them together - public support for their hatred of Israel - will be taken away.
They've been telling their people they will have everything that Israel has built. As Israel invested in science, the Arabs invested in hate and rockets. Coveting their neighbour. How will they ever admit they knew the truth all along - that Israel is here to stay?
And the refugees. Which Palestinian leader will tell them they've been lying to them for 70 years, that there will be no return 'home'? Whoever signs a peace treat - is unlikely to last a week.
Israel will prosper in peacetime. But because their narrative was built on lies and sustained on hate - the Palestinian factions will tear themselves apart rather than accept peace. It is why Hamas spent so much time, money and effort trying to destroy the Oslo process.
Envy of what Israel has created, an inability to settle the numerous internal power struggles and above all the truth that the Palestinians were never an identity beyond one that sought to destroy Zionism - will never allow them to choose to shake Israel's hand.
Unless Saudi, Egypt Jordan & co realise that any solution will have to be forced and then of course policed for a generation- then nothing will come of it. For 70 years they fed poison into the conflict - I doubt they've the guts to provide the antidote. jpost.com/Israel-News/Sa…
