If you are going to use surveys and polls it's important to get granular because headlines and the news is always distorted. For instance there was no reporting on the Michigan sentiment report on tariffs. It was revealed the richest households have most angst about topic.
"June's small overall decline was entirely due to households with incomes in the top third of the distribution, who more frequently mentioned the negative impact of tariffs, cited by 45%, up from 30% last month."
So, while lower income households would pay more for the plastic stuff at WalMart (not 10 or 25% more not even close) they understand and appreciate the battle and have more confidence America will win. Perhaps some of these richer folks would actually lose if there is fair trade
