Depressing how climate makes good organizations lose their proportion

Medical organizations claim unsupportably that climate biggest public 21st century *health* challenge

Just obesity kills 409,000 Americans every year
Alcohol kills 88,000 each year

Yes, climate change is a problem, but not a catastrophe. UN Climate Panel estimate total impact (not just health) by 2070s equivalent to 0.2-2% reduction in income

These smart organizations (like American Medical Organization) should know better.

Correct air pollution big killer (not 200K+, but 70-100K)

but about better regulation of power plants, industrial processes & cars, not more renewables

(and even then, much PM2.5 from car tires)

weasely/no link to climate

Arguing catastrophes have caused "thousands of deaths" is weasely — over many years, and nothing compared to 409K deaths/year from obesity (ihmeuw.org/4tx0)
Moreover, it neglects that globally, because of prosperity, deaths from climate declining

And really, heat vs cold?
In their climate-obsession, these esteemed medical societies forgot to check the data
The US has 24x more cold than heat deaths (extrapolated to 2019, about 5K heat, 207K cold)

And even with strong warming *and* adaptation, it is likely that even the future, will see fewer, not more heat/cold deaths
