(1) Thread: 🚨Joint press briefing from the Mayor and local First Responder agencies after #RidgecrestEarthquake

My comments below.
(2) At 2min46s into the briefing, a small aftershock was felt.

This is what the aftermath of an earthquake is like. Repeated aftershocks, anxiety and difficulty sleeping.
(3) The City of Ridgecrest and the County of Kern have declared states of emergency.

At that point the video ended but the briefing obviously went on for longer. I will bring you links or info about it when available.

I'm an earthquake survivor from NZ (2011) who will provide reporting & commentary below, just as soon as I can load the USGS pages properly.

This was big, shallow, & the city has 28k people.

(2) OK, have given up on the USGS website for now. Current USGS-sourced assessment of this EQ is:

Mag: 7.1 (severe)
Depth: 0.9km (half a mile, v. v. shallow)
Location: 17km NNE of Ridgecrest, CA (very close to city)
(3) I would be very surprised if there is no loss of life from this EQ.

185 people died in the Christchurch NZ EQ of 2/22/11. I was thrown across the room, but was fine, compared to others.

Ridgecrest: 28,000 + rural areas is a lot of people affected.

(1) RIP Jared Lorenzen, 38 years old.

I don't follow football and had never heard of him before today. Very sad loss.

I write about medical issues and celebrity deaths. His is a salutary tale.
(2) According to this report, he died of heart and kidney problems complicated by an infection.

A standard set of issues that affect most people who reach 571lb (259kg). Lorenzen weighed that just two years ago.

(3) The most effective & safe ways to lose weight differ for the overweight, obese, morbidly obese, & super morbidly obese. He was the latter.

It appears that he did not have bariatric surgery & opted to lose weight with lifestyle changes.

This isn't the best approach.

Dmytro Zhmailo, spokesman/executive director of Free People, member of Youth Nationalist Congress (MNK), and senior staff for Ukrainian MP Oleh Medunytsia, who himself chaired MNK 2002-2006. Among others, Zhmailo is FB friends with CUN leader S.Bratsiun.
Pavlo Podobied, head of the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance's Department for the Preservation of Places of Memory, according to Newsweek, has "accused Jews of being the main perpetrators of Soviet crimes against Ukrainians in the 1920s and 1930s." (1/2)

- Exact places of deaths are only partially accurate

#Idlib_Dawn operation began May 6 targeting #Qalaat_alMudiq axis on #Hama

At least 10 loyalist KIA including 1 on Jub Ahmar (#Latakia/#Hama border)

HOWEVER May 6 was also 'martyrs day' so Facebook was flooded w/ old martyr posts making collecting accurate data very difficult.
7 of these deaths were #Tiger_Forces w/ 6 from #Taha_Regiment's Maskana Group and Omar Naqr Group (pic)

Jub Ahmar death was from #4th_Division, although I was told there were many other deaths here not reported on loyalist social media.

We lived in a compound with a story building of four flats Mama Tutu and Mama Ngozi lived on the ground floor while Sisi Mi, our landlady and Mama Bimbo (My mama) lived on the first floor. Mama Tutu’s flat was below ours while Mama Ngozi’s flat was below Simi Mi’s.
Mama Tutu was the only university graduate in our compound and she never hesitated to let the mothers know, and the kids too. This was why we spoke very little vernacular and zero pidgin around her because she would come down on you like a hammer.
