The true test of a person’s commitment to freedom of association does not come when he permits people to associate in ways he finds acceptable. It comes when he permits people to voluntarily associate in ways he deems offensive.
I am afraid that too many of my fellow Americans are hostile to the principles of liberty. Most people want liberty for themselves. I differ. I want liberty for me and liberty for my fellow man.

Due to their criminal activities involving illegal drugs, two beloved black millennial relatives are in the hospital. One was severely beaten and the other is fighting for his life.

Average wages have grown above 3% for 10 straight months—twice as fast as inflation. And since the tax cuts of 2017, wage growth for the poorest 25% of workers has reached post-recession highs of 4.4%.
In the most recent data from the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, the highest-income workers’ wages are growing at a more modest rate, more than a percentage point lower than those of low-wage workers.

With the Revolutionary Communist Party/Living Marxism/Spiked again being a topic of discussion online, I thought I'd post a quick thread on how the RCP/LM developed into the free speech warriors around Spiked Online - based on research for my book on history of 'no platform'.
RCP began as Revolutionary Communist Tendency in late 1970s, having split from Revolutionary Communist Group, partly due to differences over approach towards how to fight apartheid in South Africa.

RCT became RCP in early 1980s and had strong ultra-leftist programme.
One of the campaign groups that RCT/RCP formed was Workers Against Racism, which originally proposed that the ‘most effective response to racism is the formation of workers’ defence groups’. State racism was seen as more of a threat than the far right.

Trump’s incoherence on free speech: gagging Doctors’ counsel on patients’ right to abortions, while promoting payed hate speech at colleges.

Anyone can speak freely on campuses, but hate mongers don’t have the right to be payed for it.

Free speech =/= state sponsored hate.
Trump brought Hayden Williams to the CPAC stage.

Williams, not a student, was attacked by a student at UC Berkeley while distributing right wing pamphlets.

The student was arrested & charged, Berkeley released a statement of commitment to free speech.
