Today, the @washingtonpost is making publicly available the data behind the Opioid Files. And we’re not just making the full data available; we’re also making county-by-county and state-by-state data available as well. washingtonpost.com/graphics/2019/…
The data you can download is the raw subset of the data we used looking at shipments of oxycodone and hydrocodone pills to pharmacies across the country. It is not the full data but is quite similar to how experts in the court case looked at the flow of pills into communities.
You can also download aggregate data for top distributors, manufacturers and pharmacies in those counties and states. washingtonpost.com/graphics/2019/…
In addition to that aggregate data, you can also download graphics you can use (with attribution) of the top five distributors, manufacturers and pharmacies in those counties. They're downloadable as pngs. washingtonpost.com/graphics/2019/…
e tried our best to answer some questions about this data and its release here. We'll add more as we get more. washingtonpost.com/national/2019/…
If you're interested in the full raw nationwide data for this subset, you can download it here. d2ty8gaf6rmowa.cloudfront.net/dea-pain-pill-…
And if you're a real glutton for punishment, you can download the full raw file released by the courts here. d2ty8gaf6rmowa.cloudfront.net/dea-pain-pill-…
If you use this data or the graphics for any stories, studies or anything else, we'd love to hear about it. There are hundreds of stories to be done out of this data and we cannot do them all. We hope you will. washingtonpost.com/graphics/2019/…
Once you select a county, you can download the raw transaction-level data files here. washingtonpost.com/graphics/2019/…
We know this data is hard to parse for many around the country, so we did our best to do a lot of that work for you so you can tell these stories in your community.
