If the New Education Policy does not give the right place to Sanskrit education, it will again be a failure. The language of each state along with Sanskrit must be compulsorily incorporated into the India's education system. This again with much focus at the primary level.
In my view in every state, the native language must be made compulsory. But in the curriculum must include components of Sanskrit. For example, out of 100 marks 60 must be assigned for the native language and 40 for Sanskrit. This must be at the primary level.
And in the higher classes when the students have to chose their 3rd language Sanskrit can be made available as an optional language. But at the primary level it must be made compulsory.
Here are my arguments why Sanskrit must be compulsory for the children at an early age:
1. Sanskrit being a well structured language, its phonetic and linguistic values not only generate love for languages but also enhance the linguistic faculty of the children learning it methodically.
2. The rhythmic beauty of Sanskrit and its majestic sonority are not only great aid to memory but also it is because of this Sanskrit helps developing sense of music and puts in contact with universal rhythm necessary for a progressive and harmonious growth of a child.
3. The thought contents of Sanskrit have immense power to elevate one from state of inertia to state of enlightenment. When a child comes in contact with the thoughts expressed in the Sanskrit literature, it develops in it the sense of appreciation for truth, beauty and right.
4. The way Sanskrit instills values in a child is amazing. Sanskrit indeed is synonymous with value education.
5. The Mantric power of the language is potent enough to instill the spiritual value. It is because of this Sanskrit helps maintaining the well being of the child learning it.
6. Being logical, Sanskrit generates clarity and joy, instills sense of keen observation and scientific temperament.
7. There are so many treasures of science, math and technology written by ancient Indians in Sanskrit. The children should not only be able to learn about it, but carry the research forward and bring the glorious findings of ancient India onto the modern global scenario.
8. Sanskrit is a unifier of pan-India society from north to south, east to west. The children can speak the same language from whichever region they come from.
9. The best of Indian culture, lifestyles and philosophy, such as Yoga, languages, religions, dance, music, architecture, food, and customs have their origins in Sanskrit, which would be lost if Sanskrit loses its existence.
10. Because of the transparent system of root-sounds Sanskrit helps understanding one's own language better, and also connects the child with other Indian languages. By going deep into its psychological roots, one can even understand non-Indian languages and their evolution.
11. The very use of the Sanskrit helps in the right development of the brain of the child, enhances memory, and also refines his vocal capacities by its vibrational quality and the richness of its sound.
12. The beauty and the scientific significance of the Sanskrit is something that opens several possibilities for the children who grow up with it, not only in terms of learning new languages, but also in terms of insights into a world of wisdom.
