One of the civics lessons that entitled ppl don’t absorb is that being a responsible citizen does not mean the translation of your feelings into public policy & statements. Mature citizenship allows you to balance yr feelings against the needs of the public good.
Your feelings are not inherently good or worthy of being the basis of public policy. Your representative should know & consider the feelings of her constituents. But we elect representstives to exercise leadership - judgment, reflection, to acquire addl info, consider compromise.
I have lots of feelings - some irrational and conflicting. I would not want my representatives to say or do everything I feel. That grown citizens want this is evidence of profound civic ignorance and a complete rejection of the concept of public good.
