This whole thread may be too philosophically-politically in the weeds for many, and you might not want to read the speech, which is long, BUT someone should read this to Grandpa #Biden, because THIS is the future of the #GOP: Young, smart, committed nationalists/nativists.

#Biden claims Trump is an aberration, that when he is president [sic], the #GOP will have this magical epiphany and will go back to being some kindly moderates that Biden remembers but who never actually existed with the possible exception of Teddy Roosevelt sans the war.

Keep in mind that the most strident Trump supporters in the House and Senate this week were also the youngest.

This #Hawley speech is 100% Nazism from our own Senate. Unvarnished, but framed within an intellectualized style but that uses the standard anti-Semitic code words.

#Hawley is Stanford and Yale educated, is the youngest member of the Senate and ousted longtime MO senator #ClaireMcCaskill in a bitter midterm election running on these very issues. Most concerning for Democrats is this is the new phalanx of the #GOP.

My main points here are: 1) Trump ain't no aberration and 2) we cannot afford a nominee who thinks he is or 3) that somehow the #GOP is dying out.
Also, we need a nominee who can be the 2024 incumbent, because this will be the new guard in 2024.

Go back and read that first #Hawley quote that Jamal Bouie highlights: this is straight-up Hitler-in-1929 citations of how the Jews (((cosmopolitan elites))) are cultural and economic invaders. The Herrenvolkishness is deliberative and strident: America for (white) Americans.

There is real danger in the misperception that Trump is the only issue in 2020. 2020 has to be about 2024 & also the Democratic v GOP leadership.
The fight over younger Dems has always been a canard. The real concern is younger GOP leadership & the threat of rising GOP stars.

This narrative that younger #GOP is pushing--Hawley, Cotton, Ernst, Rubio, Lee, Stefanik, Amash--is Trump on steroids framed within more polite language. GOP House leadership is 25yrs younger than Dem leadership. Dems cannot afford to ignore the message nor these messengers.

Bahnsen argues weakly, and without even a soupcon of evidentiary support, that progressive politics are the problem because of the Senate judiciary hearings on Bork and Kavanaugh--which is frankly just dull-witted. He basically blames "progressives" for Trump's ascendancy.

But also, Bahsen ignores POC entirely and even dismisses crimes against white girls like the teenaged Christine Blasey Ford. Bahsen even sidesteps Clarence Thomas. Why note Kavanaugh and leave out Thomas/Hill? Lazy thinking and bad tropes.

Astonishingly snide piece that once again reflects the gender and race biases inherent in this phalanx of self-styled "progressive" Sanders supporters. Saying women, POC and LGBTQ who were the actual folks at NN19 in Philly don't matter is just so elitist.

Some examples of the outcome of unconventional readers (i.e #NotNovels) I taught a boy to read using atlases, and he only ever read those at school. Today he’s an international pilot.
I taught an illiterate child (who also had anger and low self-esteem issues) how to read using only the @BeanoOfficial - last year he passed his GCSEs.

1. PRESUMPTION OF INNOCENCE. The "presumption of innocence" is what's called in the justice system a "trial presumption," meaning it has force and effect exclusively in a setting in which a "finder of fact" (usually a jury) is deliberating after evidence has been presented to it.
2. Americans wrongly believe the "presumption of innocence" a general principle all Americans must adopt; it manifestly is not and isn't meant to be. What it means is a courtroom finder of fact—usually a jury—must presume innocence unless and until a burden of proof has been met.
