And so it begins ... preparation for a general election. The only organisation with the structure and leadership to take this on is Labour. Momentum vs Cummings. Should be fascinating.
Obviously, Cummings is using the evil plan of focusing on user needs i.e. interacting and talking to actual voters rather than the time honoured method of grandees coming up with policies in Ivory towers before doing a bit of market research on which of their policies is better.
This populist idea of actually talking to and even worse involving the population that elected respresentatives are supposed to represent threatens a break with the past. Next they'll be saying we don't need our ivory towers anymore.

Me : Depends upon the context.
X : Any case studies?
Me : Why do you need case studies?
X : I want to get an idea of what sort of impact it has.
Me : That will depend upon your context. We have a conflict here.
X : Why?
Me : You're looking for a method which will give you a defined result i.e. 10% increase in revenue if I look at my context etc. I'm telling you that this is all context dependent and that it's a good idea to look at context.
X : But you must be able to give me a figure?
Me : That would be a trap. If I told you that through maps I helped Ubuntu from 3% to 70% of cloud in 18 months for less than $1.5M then ...
X : Did you?
Me : ... not the point. The point is, you'll think this would apply to your context if you used maps. It doesn't.

Me : No, other than a by-election.
X : How will Labour do?
Me : Irrelevant, Labour was in third place. You've a sitting MP forced to an election by a petition over expenses scandal plus two parties withdrawing to support LibDem who should win.
X : By much?
Me : Oh, a comfortable 8k or so. This is quite a Conservative / LibDem area since the '80s and the Conservative MP was forced to an election by petition. You should expect LibDems to smash this one out of the park.
Brecon result is terrible. Even with almost 20% of the local electorate signing a petition against a sitting MP convicted of expenses fiddle with two parties dropping out to support the LibDems in a Con / Lib area ... a Tory + Brexit pact would win - bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-…

We had this argument three years ago. You insisted that you can't possibly predict anything in politics.
I decided to see if that was true or just a kind of media mythology built from laziness.
And from what I could see, if the Tories pursued Brexit they would hit a dead end because what they wanted was to turn Brexit into a treaty renegotiation, which Europe would never allow.
And everything else I predicted was just a consequence of that.
Theresa May's election because she knew she wouldn't get Brexit through, and Corbyn looked like such a push over.

I have noticed that some on the Labour left greet news of any set back for #PeoplesVote with almost as much glee as hard brexiters this cannot be because they want #Brexit as they will often state they voted remain and would vote remain again so bears examination
Labour left tend to produce a constant steam of excuses why they can't oppose #brexit they will say corbyn can do nothing because he isn't in power thus rejecting the very concept of opposition
They will claim they can't offend labour leave voters the implication being remainers who voted tactically to deprive the tories of a majority in 2017 may be ignored with impunity or claim a 2nd ref will anger the far right who hate @jeremycorbyn anyway

Ok, it's time to address this idea that #FBPE is an anti-Corbyn-focused organisation.
It has become an increasingly popular trope of the pro-Corbyn, Momentum cult that #FBPE is out to get them.
A favourite way to undermine #FBPE by the #Corbyn/#Momentum crowd is to suggest that it is a being controlled by the right or 'shady billionaires' (which historians of World War II will remember is a nod towards Jewish money).

Ok. So here goes an attempt to summarise where May is leading the U.K. with her Chequers plan.

First, it can’t of escaped anyone even remotely interested in politics that the Chequers proposal is universally hated by all sides. 1/
Labour have announced they’ll vote against it (they’ll vote against any deal as it’s an opportunity to force an election) so with a minority government the PM needs a deal with full party unity. This is where she’s made a huge mistake. 2/
Before Chequers, she had around 8 guaranteed “rebels” to worry about, the EU withdrawal act passed through parliament relatively unscathed showing the unity in the original position set out in Lancaster house (an amazing effort by @SteveBakerHW as well getting that through) 3/

I'm often asked what non-European immigration has to do with Brexit. The answer is nothing, and everything...
A lot of us didn't want a referendum. UKIP was originally intended to force a Tory government to put Brexit on the manifesto and have it as a general election issue. UKIP was building slowly. Farage, however, wanted to take a shortcut.
Circa 2006 there were a million BNP votes to be hoovered up in the north which is why UKIP put immigration front and centre. The so-called "left behind". Better to call them the totally ignored. UKIP would listen to them and reflect their views.
