"In a general election, the voters would face a simple choice: back Boris Johnson and the no-deal extremists, or back Labour and the chance to remain." ... the priority for Labour is to remove the Conservatives. There are more important issues than brexit ...
... so there would have been the option of a Lab / Lib pact if it hadn't been ruled out by the LibDems. The vast majority of Labour are concerned with austerity, investment in services and tackling inequality. Brexit is important but secondary to this ...
.... the article - "Jeremy Corbyn’s stance on Brexit could yet pay off, even for remainers. Here’s why" - theguardian.com/commentisfree/… - is not only spot on, it hints at one of the problems - "many on the right of the party don’t actually want to see him win power"
Which brings me to Jo Swinson's voting record ...
FOR ... bedroom tax, reducing welfare benefits, reducing corporation tax
AGAINST ... higher disability benefits, jobs for young people, raising higher rate of income tax, mansion tax, banker's bonus tax

... the issue is not as simple as Brexit - yay or nay. If Corbyn was to fully support remain, that would simply alienate some Labour voters and gain little as many of his detractors are against the "other" policies of tackling inequality and creating a fairer society.
Those "other" policies are the primary focus of many of Labour.
