It's so weird traveling internationally and seeing their real-world healthcare systems compared to the weird proposals by American politicians, which are designed to be politically-correct rather than realistic.
One of the fun things is how they approach "homeopathic" medicine, which is nonsense that doesn't work. However, hypochondriacs over-consume health care, so it's cheaper that they do this with homeopathy than real medicine.
In France, the national health insurance has long reimbursed homeopathic medicine for this reason, but has decided to stop, because it implies government endorsement of this non-medicine.
Germany doesn't have government healthcare, but instead subsidizes private insurance companies. Many of them reimburse homeopathy for the cost savings, but without the implicit government endorsement of pseudomedicine.
Anyway, if I were running the debates, I'd ask them "would your plan cover homeopathy", because politicians would HATE that, because either way you alienate the 30% voters who believe in it, or another 30% who know it's nonsense.
