Let's kick off with performance. Q2 was the story of large caps - with Bitcoin in the lead. No surprises here.

When it comes to network activity, Bitcoin and Ethereum are both up quarter over quarter in most measures, although in a few areas Ethereum is down year over year.

Over Q2, the narrative of Bitcoin as not only a store of value, but as a non-correlated hedge against what felt like an inevitable macro economic move towards money printing sunk in much more deeply.

Over in Ethereum, meanwhile, the emphasis on dapps was on the decline. Instead, the story was all about DeFi.

In Q2, we also started to get far enough out from early exchange tokens and IEOS to get a sense of how they were performing. Projects that IEO appear to have to fight their way through an inevitable price trough as the quick money leaves.

The reports contained lots of discussion of Libra, but since it remains in the realm of the speculative. Still @coinmetrics had some interesting data about the impact of regulatory action in another sphere - watching outflows from BitMEX after news broke of a CFTC probe.

@Delphi_Digital noticed that crypto VC deals were down - in terms of overall number and dollars invested, while @ResearchCircle honed in on the rise of smart contract platform alternatives.

Finally, with the next Bitcoin halving around the corner, @ResearchCircle took a bit of time to look at past impact.

I noticed this halving slide because I see a bit of a "halving skeptic" narrative emerging. I saw it with this essay strixleviathan.com/blog/2019/7/21… and echoed again today by @TheStalwart
