The hope: Claw black votes away from Democrats & hope others stay home in Nov 2020.

NEW: Three tiers for CNN debate drawing

1) -- bennett, bullock, de blasio, delaney, tulsi, gillibrand, hickenlooper, inslee, ryan, williamson
2) -- booker, buttegig, castro, amy, beto, yang
3) -- biden, harris, bernie, warren

each tier gets divided up into the two debate nights
CNN will stretch this drawing out for a looong time, with commercial breaks and #analysis from Anderson Cooper and others in between drawings of each tier.
Also from CNN's logistics calls with the 2020 campaigns:

Candidates are required to leave their phones and watches in the green rooms.
Each campaign gets 30 tickets.

The Inslee campaign asked if the national anthem will be sung. It will be sung.

WSJ Page One today: Before Beto O'Rourke was a progressive rock star, his 2012 House campaign was funded by El Paso Republicans. Then, he opposed the ACA, wanted to raise Social Security age & means-test entitlements. -->

Of the 40 TX donors who gave <$2,500 to O'Rourke's 2012 campaign and other federal candidates, 26 contributed to other Republicans but just one Democrat—him. Seven gave to other Ds but not Rs. Another seven gave to other candidates from both parties.

15 House Republicans with A NRA ratings lost on Tuesday. All 15 were replaced by Democrats with F NRA ratings.

2018 marked the first time gun control groups outspent the NRA. Everytown & Giffords spent $37 million (plus another $100m from Bloomberg) while the NRA spent $20 million - some of that went to Gorsuch & Kavanaugh ads. wsj.com/articles/democ…
