Scoop: Israeli officials told Congressional leaders on Wednesday that Israel will block Reps. Omar and Tlaib from entering Israel. They said announcement would come Wednesday but after private Dem backlash, it was delayed. Dems now bracing for a fight... washingtonpost.com/world/national…
House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer has been running point for the Democrats in urging the Israelis to reconsider the decision to block Omar and Tlaib. He pressed the Israelis on Wednesday but it remains unclear what Netanyahu will decide. An announcement is expected shortly.
Some in the Democratic leadership believe blocking Omar and Tlaib is a bad idea because such moves are not emblematic of a country that touts itself as the Middle East's sole democracy, a place tolerant of political expression and criticism.
One Dem aide told me there will also be members who would view such a decision through a racial lens, connecting it to the practice of ethnic profiling but for US members of Congress, making it a much bigger offense

the incentive for Free Joseon to work with FBI is less clear. Meeting with US authorities is likely to alarm North Korea even more, but it could also afford the group some protection. The group, like the US, is also opposed to the Kim regime, but the nuke talks complicate things

Reps. Omar and Tlaib have consistently refused to recognize the right of Israel to exist as a Jewish state, and actively support its demise by supporting the anti-Semitic BDS movement that calls for a worldwide boycott of Israel’s economy.
By attempting to travel to Israel with an organization that includes members who support terrorism against Israel, Reps. Omar & Tlaib made it clear the only intention of their visit was to spew hate & advocate for policies that would actively undermine the Jewish state of Israel.
Just like we expect people to respect our laws, Israeli law allows the government to block the entry of those who advocate for these destructive BDS policies, and we should respect their laws as well.

Apparently it’s official: #Israel to prevent the entry of @IlhanMN and @RashidaTlaib for their tour of #Palestine next week. Beyond disappointment at not being able to talk to them about #Gaza, a few thoughts.
1/ The very basic fact that Israel can prevent American congresswomen from touring the Palestinian territories is all the evidence one needs to show that Palestinians are living in a one-state reality under absolute Israeli control and sovereignty.
2/ This decision is excused using accusations of antisemitism and security. To be clear, this is about nothing other than shutting down freedom of expression and policing political opinion; only the right kind of American, with the right kind of politics, can get in.

Israeli officials told me the government in Jerusalem was surprised by the Polish government ad campaign in the Israeli press this morning regarding the Joint Polish-Israeli statement on the Holocaust law
A senior Israeli official told me the Polish government didn't coordinate the campaign with Israel and did not notify Israel about it in advance. The official said the campaign in the Israeli press contradicts the spirit of the understandings between the parties
The Israeli official told me Israel and Poland agreed that the only official text of the joint statement will be in English - not in Polish and not in Hebrew. "This is why Netanyahu read the statement only in English during his remarks to the press", the official said
