This is a long, but interesting piece by @BernieSanders.
The (ironically) clickbait headline misrepresents the content, which is, for the most part, about media conglomeration.

The media has become gossip, clickbait and punditry. This threatens democracy theguardian.com/commentisfree/…
While the only journalist Bernie references is Walter Cronkite (!?), his exhaustive facts on how local news is being subsumed by media mega mergers and where that leaves journalists like myself is far more than just Bernie's standard billionaires and oligarchs rant.
While Bernie's plan to overhaul the system seems both facile & slightly authoritarian, the basic premise is both laudable and--in terms of saving the bedrock of serious journalism--essential. We need the kind of investigative journalism that only a handful of places can afford.
So the caveat here is it's long and written in Bernie-speak. But the points he lays out are sound and worth considering by every candidate: How do we save real journalism from the repetitious cycle of punditry that is mostly talk and little action?
Bernie makes the case for a kind of WPA (naturally--his era) version of getting women and POC into more journalism jobs and also explains how/why we need more journalists who are not beholden to corporate interests to address major issues like healthcare and climate.Worth a read.
