1) the fate of the country on #Brexit relies on one man doing the right thing

What this informed article tells us is that the sure fire way of stopping no deal is a specific vote of no confidence followed by an alternative government within 14 days

prospectmagazine.co.uk/politics/how-c…
2) not to be overdramatic but all other routes are risky and could be blocked. But constitutionally the primary defence against a rogue government remains in place, vote no confidence, bring Johnson down, form a new government around an alternative PM and pass legislation
3) So there is only one actual blocker - Corbyn. Either insufficient MPs believe he can command the confidence of the house or insufficient (Tory mostly but not exclusively) would support him.

But if he is forced out, insufficient left Labour MPs would support anyone else
4) if Corbyn puts himself forward, we lose MPs on the right. If he's forced not to, we lose MPs on the left

in either event, the vote of no confidence fails & Johnson goes forward with no deal #Brexit.

In the end it's that simple.
5) now, we can argue over whether Corbyn has or has not worked to stop no deal #Brexit, or the fact that he's leader of the opposition and has the right to stand, or that he's been unfairly smeared.

But this isn't about him, it's about the country, and the next 40 years
6) Corbyn has enough loyal MPs to cause a VoNC to fail if he's forced out of the running but not enough support to win that VoNC.

This is just the reality, and we have days, literally days, to stop this Right wing disaster
7) so it comes down to that one man and doing the right thing. Corbyn needs to take the initiative and publicly stand aside, be the statesman and recognise that he cannot lead on this
8) It will carry a personal cost of course, but right now it's literally Corbyn's ego Vs the fate of the country

We do not know if another leader could command a majority

We do know that Corbyn won't. And you may consider that unfair, unjust, whatever, but it's reality
9) It's bizarre that the fate of the country rests on one politician making the decision to step aside but it is what it is

Corbyn can't be forced out, he must voluntarily step aside

He said he'd do anything to stop no deal. Anything except stepping aside?
