You may have heard:

"Cliff edge"
"No deal chaos"

a lot lately.

However, a "cliff edge" doesn't exist. The UK and EU have *already passed legislation* ensuring that when we #LeaveOct31 very little changes. I explain in my new blog post. Please RT!

Firstly, on the EU side:

The EU launched their No Deal Contingency plan in Dec 2018. This ensures continuity of things like cross border trade, transport and derivatives trading. You can view the press release here:

europa.eu/rapid/press-re…
EU member states have (finally) largely clarified UK citizens rights in the EU. There is now clear advice on how British nationals can secure residency in the EU:

The EU have also passed almost 50 pieces of legislation which come into effect in the event of No Deal, allowing full implementation of the Contingency plan.

Meaning in the event of no deal, little actually changes.

You can view them all here:

Now onto the UK.

The UK has already passed the Withdrawal Act, which moves all EU originated law wholesale onto the British statute books.

On October 31st we would remain equivalent to EU regulations and legislation.
The UK has also published its tariff schedules in the event of a no deal Brexit. You can view them below.

Tariffs on 87% of goods from the EU will remain at zero. Items which are subject to high EU tariffs now would remain unchanged.

The UK has already upgraded infrastructure, spending up to £4bn on preparations. Extra border staff and civil servants are reportedly ready for any unforeseen circumstances.

The government's full Brexit preparations are described here:

The UK has also guaranteed the status of EU nationals in the UK.

Many of the applicants have already had their status confirmed: spending 20 mins registering on a free app and receiving confirmation via email within 2 days.

Regarding tariffs, citizens rights, cross border travel and trade, it's clear that following a "No deal" Brexit, very little actually changes.

Lots of legislation has already been passed by both sides, making a "cliff edge" non-existent.

But you wouldn't hear that on the news.
Which makes it even more obvious that when @hilarybennmp , @PhilipHammondUK , @oletwinofficial claim that they are motivated to seize control of the HoC by a fear of no deal, they are being dishonest.

Their real motivation is to stop Brexit entirely.
