Let’s talk about a recent Foreign Policy piece by @hmajd, a known & disgraced member of #Iran’s also disgraced DC-based lobby, @NIACouncil.
Hooman Majd goes the distance in this piece to praise the mullahs’ regime in Iran.
Majd begins his piece through an advisory approach to provide a window into Iranian culture and history. He praises former Iranian prime minister Mohammad Mosaddegh.
Contradiction: The mullahs (Majd’s bosses) welcomed & facilitated the 1953 coup d’état that ousted Mossadegh.
“… the clergy itself played a major role in toppling Mosaddeq.”

Majd praises the mullahs’ founder:
“Khomeini, had ezat & etemad — pride & self-confidence…”
Khomeini
-ordered the massacre of 30,000 political prisoners #1988Massacre
-sent children to clear minefields for brigades in the Iran-Iraq War
-is known for his disgusting remarks
“[Khomeini’s] one moment of [defeat] was his statement on finally accepting a cease-fire with Iraq after eight years of bloody fighting that left close to a million people dead & no exchange of territory: He likened it to drinking a chalice of poison.”

Majd claims:
“Iran is neither allied to nor subject of any other power but rather stands on its own.”
He won’t mention how the regime came under severe criticism from Iranians for literally selling off the Caspian Sea to Russia.

Majd also won’t mention how the mullahs’ regime sold-out the strategic Chabahar port in southeast Iran to India.

Majd won’t mention how the regime sold the mammoth South Pars gas field to France & China.

China: 30%
Iran: 19.9%

Majd goes on to praise Iranian President @HassanRouhani & (now sanctioned) Foreign Minister @JZarif, especially during the 2015 nuclear deal negotiations.
Reminder:
Majd has very close relations with Zarif, NIAC founder @tparsi & former Iranian president Mohammad Khatami.
“The Iranian gov has long declared that it will remain an enemy of anyone who doesn’t treat it and its people with respect.”
Of course, Majd, and other Iran apologists/lobbyists, refuse to mention the regime’s human rights violations against Iranians themselves.
#Hypocrisy
Majd goes on to praise Obama and his appeasement policy with the mullahs’ regime.
This thread sheds light on the devastation that the Obama tenure brought for millions of people in Iran and across the Middle East.
Recalling Iran’s latest JCPOA violations, Majd says: “Only now the government will likely have the backing of its people, who have yet to see barely any of the economic benefits the JCPOA was supposed to deliver.”
Of course, he provides no proof.
Majd won’t mention the Dec 2017/Jan 2018 uprising & ongoing protests in which the Iranian people are voicing opposition to the regime:
“Reformists, principalists, GAME OVER!”
“Let go of Syria, think about us!”
“Not Gaza, Not Lebanon, My life for Iran”
At the end of the day, such a completely biased article is not at all unexpected from Hooman Majd.
And here is @hesamodin1, advisor to Iran’s president, obviously praising Majd’s article.
My conclusion:
After 40 years, it is crystal clear that the mullahs in Iran are a filthy regime.
However, the likes of @hmajd lobbying & praising this regime are even more repulsive.
Furthermore, it is quite unfortunate to see websites such as @ForeignPolicy provide a platform for figures such as Hooman Majd to parrot #Iran’s propaganda.
