Caspian Sea, Kashmir and Kashgar is a triangle of three regions. On the Indian side, it is believed that the names of these regions are derived from Rishi Kashyapa.

The populace as per the Indian system of classification was divided into various groups, based on various aspects, such as their character, physical traits, their skills, the region they inhabited & so on.

Some of the prominent ones, most often referred to in the texts, were Manava, Danava, Asura, Rakshasa, Naga, Yaksha, Gandharva, Vanara, Kinnara, Kimpurusha.

They were all identified as the descendants of Kashyapa.

The word “Kashyapa” comes from the root Kashyam meaning “shine”, “radiance”, “that which makes manifestation seen & felt”. Kashyapa thus is the symbolic father of the physically manifested as well as the subtle in the Universe.

Surya, Sun was an offspring of Kashyapa and his wife Aditi. Thus the famous solar lineage, Surya Vamsa starts from Kashyapa and his wife Aditi. Kashyapa is regarded as the father figure of those times, after whom comes the famous king Ikshwaku, the grandson of Surya.

From Ikshvaku hailed the Ikshvaku dynasty in which Rama was born.

Indian legends, the various Purana which use symbolism & personification to explain natural phenomena & concepts, describe how all beings descended from Rishi Kashyapa, considered to be the progenitor of the world

Kashyapa is a symbolic cum legendary figure in Indian Purana.

The region of Kashmir (Kashyapa Mira, where Mira means a lake, sea), the Caspian Sea and even Kashgar are all attributed as a reminder of this Kashyapa.
