Nothing in life is 0-1, its always a matter of degree. But 1 question remains unanswered (@VivekKatju ): Why is it that till recently (Dolam?), 90% of the world's elite (broadly defined) believed/supported Pakistan & China's version of their realations/interactions with us?
2/ #Myth of global credibility(on JK)is exposed by #Kargil reality; We were so scared of using aircraft to bomb Kargil heights (on our side of LOC) bcs bombs may fall on other side of LOC or a plane may cross it for a few secs, that we sacrificed 500 lives to scale Ladakh heights
3/risk Contrast this with Bangladesh, where we took risks to achieve Strategic victory. Tying your own hands behind back & sacrificing soldiers, is not national risk taking, killing other side's aggressing Jehadis & soldiers is risk taking(it requires frgn support, funds & planing

Timeline of #Kargil War

Capt Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed (NH) (THREAD 🔗)

He was born on 1 January 1970. He was commissioned in the #Army on 14 October 1994. Captain Karnal Sher Khan emerged as the symbol of mettle and courage during the #Kargil conflict on the Line of Control. (1)
He set personal examples of bravery and inflicted heavy losses on the enemy. He defended the five strategic posts, which he established with his jawans at the height of 17,000 feet at Gultary, and repulsed many Indian attacks. (2)

#Pakistan #PakArmy_NationPride
After many abortive attempts, the Indians on 5 July 1999 ringed the posts of Captain Karnal Sher Khan with the help of two battalions and unleashed heavy mortar fire and managed to capture some part of one of his posts. Despite facing all odds, .... (3)

It happened in #Kargil in 1999 and it again happened at #GalwanValley now. Even then it was #BiharRegiment who fearlessly fought and in a fierce fight with the Pakistan Army, captured Point 4268 nd Jubar Ridge in Kuker Thang area in the Batalik sector on the night 06/7 July 1999
Even then the NDA Govt at Centre said a strict NO to army for crossing LOC even temporally. It was a big challenge for the soldiers nd they suffered heavy losses because of this policy. But at last they cleared our territory frm the infiltrators may be after sacrificing many lives
Today again during this #IndiaChinaFaceOff it seems tat there were instructions to avoid ny kind of armed or unarmed confrontation with PLA.Details emerging frm border shows that it was the #Chinese who killed the Commanding Officer of the 16 #BiharRegiment nd two more of his men

As always he speaks from the heart. #Kargil war hero #MVC winner Col Sonam Wangchuk tells me if he had a weapon & CO was being targeted he would have used it, even if as a club. Unless own troops were completely overwhelmed by numerically more Chinese soldiers. On #IndiaFirst
Many gaps in assessment since we don't have the full picture. On a narrow ledge in close quarter combat in pitch dark how do you fire a weapon without being sure it won't hit one of your own brothers-in-arms. Will army decide or Netas & analysts about tactical operations.
One assessment of more Chinese casualties at #Galwan is that when more troops rushed on the ledge & it gave way, more of theirs went crashing down into the freezing river. All of ours are accounted for are all of theirs accounted for too from the nullah?Or #PLA couldn't care less

A beautiful scene that belies the lack of modern High calibre #artilleryguns in the #IndianArmy & serves as a reminder that 21 years after the Field #artillery Rationalization plan was drafed to remedy deficiencies exposed during #Kargil they remain diminished.
Thread below
The FARP projection envisaged the acquisition of around 3000 #artillery pieces which were subdivided into 814 truck-mounted guns, 1,580 towed guns, 100 tracked self-propelled guns, 180 wheeled self-propelled guns and 145 ultra-light howitzers.
Some 2819 guns in all.
Out of this projected requirement only the requirement for ULWH ( Ultra light weight howitzers has been addressed with the ongoing acquisition of 145 @BAESystemsInc @MahindraRise M777 155/39 guns.
There is some chatter on an additional 290 gun requirement that remains open.

1/n) 8 years ago on 7 April 2012, the #PakistanArmy suffered heavy losses when an avalanche struck the Gayari Camp in the Bilafond Glacier

The camp was a major logistic base for that sector & housed ~140 people. At that time elements of 6th Northern Light Infantry of #Pakistan
2/n) was stationed there. The camp had a major road which connected to Goma, it had helipads, quite a few buildings to support a major logistics base and nearby gun placements too.. it was on the Gayari river and was considered safe..
The avalanche which struck from the west of the camp buried it under 70 ft of snow and rocks.. there was nothing left of the camp as can be seen in this image.. and no survivors..

The loss of the camp was a setback to the Pakistani position in that area..

Half truths & absolute lies of #Pakistan & 'ecosystem' being busted by putting #FactsFirst. Lt Gen @Tiny_Dhillon @ChinarcorpsIA with diplomats in #Srinagar recently. India put J&K facts in public domain to counter malicious propaganda, also peddled by 'Fai sponsored ecosystem.' ImageImageImageImage
India must take all steps necessary to ensure peace prevails in the valley. Internet broadband restoration (while blocking social media apps that can be misused to fuel unrest) & continued detention of pol leaders, esp 3 former chief ministers was raised. Under judicial scrutiny.
J&K is an integral & inalienable part of India (a part illegally occupied by #Pakistan & #China) India also exposes Pak's aggression in Oct 1947 & Pak use of terror incl Na-Pak strategy to radicalise a section of youth in the valley. Glad India putting facts out in public domain.

Another incident to prove that #ISI knew the 9/11 was popular "Money Man " story of then #ISI DG #MahmudAhmed.

It's important to understand little history before going to this curious case of #ISI funding the 9/11 attacker .
In 1999 #Musharraf unconstitutionally snatched power #Nawaz convenienced his bullies that #Nawaz may cooperate with US to counter Taliban which is against the interest and policy of Pakistan ( He too did same later ).
The other fact was after #kargil loss #NawazSharif had  terminated the commission of Gen #Musharraf and promoted then DG #ISI Gen #Ziauddin as an army chief.
Soon after Gen #Musharraf took over the office , he took back the decision of promoting Gen #Zia and ordered an enquiry.

Though #Pakistan was created on religious line, #Jinnah was most liberal Muslim who never wanted #Pakistan a religious firm!
Till 1977 , Religion was just a personal choice in #Pakistan , General #Zia not only pushed religion but also took country decades backward !
Zia knew he had zero support from People hence he decided to take support from Mullahs and he ensured that hardcore Islam penetrate each institution in #Pakistan including #Army & #ISI !
#Soviet invaded #Afghanistan in 1979, #Zia used this opportunity to the fullest .
#US wanted to work on Proxy war, Zia got excellent platform to build these Proxies in Madrassa's of Pakistan.
