I'm shutting down Talkshow.team this week. 4 months of coasting on zero revenue, 2 weeks after a pivot that failed to positively affect any metrics - I'm calling time of death on Friday 13th.

I'll write a proper post-mortem at some point. No doubt some people will say I need to give it more time, but I think I've given it plenty :)
Talkshow attracted over 4000 signups, but very little users engaged with the service. Less than 1% of users ended up making a video of themselves. That's not really "room for improvement" territory, that's "my product hypothesis was wrong" territory.
The good news is, this has been a hugely positive learning experience. Thanks to this failure, I have a much clearer vision of what I want, and a better understanding of what projects I (as an indie hacker) should and should not be spending time on.
I still have some juice left. I'm going to roll up my sleeves and get back at it. Armed with new lessons learned, I'm going to launch a new product next month.
Think niche, think APIs. And this time, I'll adopt an open startup approach with full, real-time usage and revenue stats :)
The last 12 months were about shipping products - mission accomplished. The next 12 months will be about building a business.
