In other news this AM, Trump has his lowest approval rating in our tracking since the shutdown. projects.fivethirtyeight.com/trump-approval… 
While not a huge downturn, this one has persisted for a few weeks, and look like it may be due more to chronic (the economy) rather than acute (some particular news story) conditions. It should probably cause some consternation among any rational people in the White House.
I also wonder if we're gradually seeing the impact of some of the adults in the room having departed the White House over the course of his term. To the extent it's *not* the economy, almost every news story over the past few weeks has been a crisis of Trump's own making.
It's always hard to tell whether Trump's problems are getting worse. But in terms of his re-election, that's not necessarily the right question. If you're at 41-42% approval, the question is whether things are getting *better*, because 41-42% is not really where you want to be.
